Dawang Village Beach

Dawang Beach, the largest beach on Gouqi Island, is only about 200 meters long. Its water quality is among the best in Zhejiang and Shanghai, and because it's free, the beach is kept relatively clean. Walking along the island's coastline, you'll find plenty of free beaches where you can enjoy the water. If you're bothered by the fees, feel free to skip this one.

We went there at the end of October and there were very few people. There was almost no one on the beach around 3 pm. There was no entrance fee and you could enter freely. The scenery was nice, but if you come here specifically, it is not necessary. There is nothing special.

Because its coastline is longer than the other smaller beaches, I think the surrounding smaller beaches are more interesting. We asked to buy seafood ourselves and asked the owner to hire a chef to cook for us. The initial price was 25 yuan for braised and 20 yuan for steamed. (We bargained during the period, but we didn't agree in the end.) So after 16:00, we hurried to the vegetable market to buy vegetables. At this time, there was very little seafood, so we just bought about 8 dishes with some vegetables. After we bought them back, the old lady of the owner started nagging, saying that she would lose a lot of money buying so few dishes, and she wouldn't come to cook tomorrow. You guys We cooked for ourselves. We said that there was no vegetables in the market and we would buy more tomorrow. Then she kept nagging us, but we endured it. After dinner, we all felt that the food tasted good and praised the chef for his delicious cooking. Then we negotiated a price with the inn owner, 200 yuan per table for less than 10 dishes. The next morning, we went to the market to buy seafood and vegetables for lunch and dinner. We asked them to start cooking after we called back, but the old lady disagreed and said we had to eat between 11:00 and 11:30. We had no choice but to set the time for dinner at 11:30. As a result, when we arrived at the inn at 11:30, the dishes were already cooked and cold. We said that the dishes were cold and not very tasty. We would cook them when we came back in the evening. Okay, but she said that she would not come to cook dinner and we should cook it our own ways. She even insisted on paying 200 yuan for the meal she didn't cook. It was speechless. I argued with her, and she finally agreed to pay 100 yuan for the gas. But while I was cooking, the old lady came to the kitchen at least ten times, complaining that the kitchen walls were blackened by the fire (from flipping the wok), and then complaining that she used too much oil. I really admire her. It's not like she didn't pay me. We told her that running a business like this would mean no repeat customers and a bad reputation, but she said it wasn't necessary. I had no choice but to end my stay early. Her nagging ruined my vacation. I don't know how the owner managed to keep this inn open; she drives away all kinds of guests. But it didn't matter. It was just a business trip. The next morning, as I was leaving, I wanted to wet a car towel downstairs to clean the cab, and she came over and asked if I needed to clean the car. I quickly said no, but I was just going to wet it. Well, I can't afford to offend, but I can afford to avoid it. No more Goji Island, no more chance encounters!

This time on Goji Island, I stayed at Jiacheng Fisherman's House, very close to Dawang Beach. I stayed on the top floor with a view of the ocean. My boyfriend and I also visited the Mountain and Sea Wonders, but unfortunately, the weather wasn't sunny on both days, so we couldn't see the sunrise or sunset. Overall, it was worth the trip.

However, after October, the weather cools off, making it difficult to swim, so you can just walk and take photos on the beach. If you're staying in Dawang Village, it's a convenient 5-15 minute walk to Dawang Beach. After enjoying Dawang Beach, head to Shanhaiqi to watch the sunset. This 20-30 minute walk offers beautiful ocean views and is a truly delightful experience.

The single ticket is NT$30, and the combined ticket (which includes the Three Kings Beach, the Mountain and Sea Wonders, and the East Cliff) is NT$80. If you plan to go for sunrise and then get up, buy the combined ticket. If you're not sure whether you can get up or not, buy the individual tickets!
