Introducing Huoqiu Martyrs Cemetery

Huoqiu County Martyrs Cemetery is a national 3A-level tourist attraction. It was built in 1965 to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs who died in various revolutionary wars. Marshal Xu Xiangqian personally inscribed "Huoqiu County Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Tower."

The Martyrs' Tower is located in the eastern suburbs of Huoqiu County, at the eastern end of Donghu Road.

The Martyrs' Tower has a circumference of 49 meters and a height of 21 meters. A five-pointed red star crowns the tower, and the front of the tower is inscribed with the ten characters "Huoqiu County Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Tower" in the handwriting of Marshal Xu Xiangqian. Inscriptions from the county party committee and county government are also engraved on the front of the tower. Surrounding the tower are tall pine and cypress trees, ensuring perennial greenery. In 1985, a 50-square-meter exhibition hall dedicated to the martyrs' deeds was added to the cemetery, displaying the ashes, photos, and relics of 19 Huoqiu natives, including Liu Huo and Bai Qunhe, who heroically sacrificed their lives in the defense against Vietnam. In 2000, the tombstone and statue of Li Xuexian, a veteran Red Army soldier from Huoqiu and former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, were also placed within the cemetery, adding a new attraction.
