Shizhu Mountain, located in Xihong Road Town, Fuqing District, south of Fuzhou City, is adjacent to Liyu Lake and stands atop a precarious cliff. Walking up from the base of the mountain, two thousand-step stone steps, each about one meter wide, wind their way up to Shizhu Temple, a famous scenic spot in Fujian Province. The mountain's name comes from its unusually shaped rocks and lush bamboo and pine trees.
Shizhu Mountain boasts numerous natural wonders, including the Turtle and Snake Stone, Little Penglai, the Three-Eaves Cave, the Blue Dragon Cave, the Tongtian Cave, the One-Line Sky, the Fairy Bridge, and the Purple Cloud Pagoda. To the west of the temple lies the Dragon Girl Rock, said to be the incarnation of the East China Sea Dragon King's princess. Nearby is the Nine Carp Immortals Lying Drunkenly Rock. A stone bar, about ten feet long and a foot wide, spans the rock, creating a truly lifelike scene. This is the " Sky Bridge " scenic spot, a marvel of nature .
Shizhu Mountain is often foggy in spring, which can easily make people feel like they are floating in the air. There are also various religious festivals and activities at this time.
In summer, there are amazing sights of blue light and mirages.
The scenery of Shizhu Mountain is the best in autumn, and the Double Ninth Festival is the birthday of the Nine Immortal Lords, the main god of Shizhu Mountain. The Taoist temple will hold a grand ceremony.
The winter in Shizhu Mountain is not cold, and winter mornings are the best time to watch the sunrise.

Shizhu Mountain Scenic Area is a famous natural and cultural site in Fuzhou, known for its rich biodiversity, historical temples, and scenic beauty. It has long been a place for religious pilgrims and nature enthusiasts.
Shizhu Mountain is located about 25 kilometers north of Fuzhou city center. You can take a taxi, or bus, or drive directly to the park. Walking is not recommended as it is quite distant from the city center.
The mountain is open daily from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The best time to visit is in spring or autumn, when the weather is cool and the views are clearer.
The entrance fee is around 50 RMB. Tickets can be purchased on-site or online via the park’s official website or local travel platforms.
Booking tickets in advance is recommended, especially during peak tourist seasons. It is advisable to book at least 1-2 days ahead to secure a spot.
It typically takes around 3-4 hours to explore the main trails and temples, but if you plan to hike to the summit, it can take 5-6 hours depending on your pace.
Guided tours are available at the entrance, and they are generally offered in Chinese. It is advisable to check if English-speaking guides are available in advance.
Start from the entrance and hike towards the temples. Continue along the main trail to the summit for a spectacular view, then descend through the lower trails for a different perspective of the area.
Night visits are not typically available, as the park closes at 6:00 PM. However, the mountain is quite beautiful at dawn, and early morning visits offer a tranquil experience.
The park can get crowded during weekends and public holidays. Weekdays, especially in the morning, are the least crowded times to visit.
The park has some accessible areas, but due to the mountainous terrain, it may not be suitable for elderly visitors or those with mobility impairments. Some sections may be challenging for young children as well.
Both cash and mobile payment options (such as WeChat Pay and Alipay) are accepted at food stalls and for ticket purchases. Credit cards are less commonly accepted on-site.
Vegetarian food is available at some nearby restaurants, and Fuzhou has a number of halal options, particularly in the Muslim quarter of the city.
There are small souvenir shops near the entrance offering local crafts, tea, and souvenirs related to the mountain and temples.
Taxis and buses are available near the park to continue your journey. Alternatively, you can take the metro back to the city center if you prefer public transport.
