Wuhu Mountain, located in Xiangqian Town, Minhou County, Fuzhou City, straddles the towns of Shanggan and Nantong, forming the ancient natural boundary between Min County and Houguan County. Viewed from the south of Fuzhou City, it resembles a square table, hence the name "Square Mountain." With its towering cliffs, deep and narrow valleys, and four gorges like gates, Wuhu Mountain presents a strategic location. During the late Yuan Dynasty, Chen Youding stationed troops here, and the ruins of the village gate still remain.
Zhu Xi, a Song Dynasty scholar who traveled here to avoid pseudo-learning, built the Yincuishan Tower at Xiazhuo and left behind the poem "Fangshan": "Arriving at the mountain, I do not recognize its features, but see the winding brook of the Nine Noses. Returning, I sit alone by the small window, leaning against the sky, a hundred feet of Han jade piled high." His inscription, "Yishan's fine rocks, the abode of immortals," still remains on the cliff. Wuhushan boasts 28 scenic spots, including the Wulingyan Temple, Fangshan Temple, cliff carvings, Zhu Xi's retreat, and ancient trails. The mountain also boasts hundreds of acres of Luya tea, southern yew, and Fujian cypress, among other nationally protected plants. Luya tea was once a tribute tea.
