Langqi Island, located in Langqi Town, Mawei District, Fuzhou, is known as the Pearl of the Minjiang River Estuary. It boasts beautiful scenery, nestled between mountains and the sea, and boasts a 20% forest coverage rate . With a 30- kilometer coastline , it's roughly the size of Hong Kong Island, making it the fourth largest island in Fujian Province. With exceptional natural conditions, it's a popular destination for sightseeing and leisure.
Longgu Seaside Resort on Langqi Island boasts a picturesque setting, nestled between mountains and the sea. Langqi Island boasts numerous historical sites and a rich cultural heritage. For example, Wang Zudao, Minister of War of the Song Dynasty; Lin Cun, Councillor Chen Wensu, Minister of Rites of the Ming Dynasty; Jiang Wenpei, Doctor of the Ministry of Revenue; Dong Tingqin, Sima of Shaozhou; Dong Yanghe, Deputy Minister of Works; Chen Xie, Military Governor of Sichuan East; and Ren Guangyu, Rear Admiral of the Republic of China. From the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, Langqi Island produced over 40 Jinshi (Jinshi) and Juren (Juren) scholars . Liu Tong, Chairman of the Fujian Provincial Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang; and Jiang Tao, Standing Committee Member of the Fujian East Special Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Military Affairs, were among Langqi Island's elite.

The ten scenic spots of Langshan on the island are: White Cloud Sunrise Viewing, Cloud Dragon Sound of Tide, Twin Tortoises Guarding the Mouth, Five Tigers Guarding the Gate, Listening to the Spring at Tianzhu, Geese Sleeping at Luzhou, Golden Rooster Crowing, White Monkey Calming the River, Bridge Lying on the Waves, and Exploring the Mysterious Forest. Among them, White Cloud Sunrise Viewing is the best.

Langqi Island is located off the coast of Fuzhou, Fujian. To get there, take a ferry from Fuzhou’s city center or from the nearby docks. Taxis and private transportation can also take you to the ferry terminal.
The island is open year-round, but the best time to visit is between March and November, especially during the spring and autumn when the weather is mild and ideal for outdoor activities.
There is no entrance fee to visit Langqi Island, but boat tickets to the island can be purchased at the ferry terminal. These can be bought on-site or sometimes in advance depending on the ferry company.
It’s not necessary to book ferry tickets in advance, though during peak seasons (holidays or weekends), it’s advisable to book a few days in advance.
You can fully explore Langqi Island in a day, including time for hiking, beach visits, and sightseeing at local landmarks.
Guided tours are available in Mandarin. They can be arranged through local tour companies or on the island itself. Audio guides are less common but can be found in some areas.
The highest points on the island offer breathtaking views of the sea, nearby islands, and lush greenery. The beaches and temple areas also provide great photo opportunities.
Start by taking the ferry to the island and visit the main temple. Afterward, hike along the trails for views of the coastline, followed by a visit to the beaches for a relaxing time. Finish with a walk through one of the fishing villages for an authentic local experience.
Langqi Island is not known for night tours or light shows, as it is a tranquil destination best enjoyed during daylight hours. The island is ideal for daytime exploration.
The island can get crowded during holidays and weekends. The least crowded times to visit are weekdays, especially during the off-season months (October to February).
There are basic facilities such as public toilets and rest areas throughout the island. Food and water are available in local eateries and stalls. Shops are limited, focusing on local souvenirs and snacks.
While the island is generally accessible, some hiking trails may be challenging for elderly or disabled visitors. The main beaches and towns are more easily navigable for families with children.
