Zhangzhou Ancient City, located in Zhangzhou, a nationally recognized historical and cultural city known as the "Zou Lu of the Seaside," is Zhangzhou's most valuable core area and a key component of the Southern Fujian Cultural Ecological Protection Experimental Zone, China's first national-level cultural ecological protection zone.
The ancient city of Zhangzhou is located in the city center with prosperous commerce and trade. It is also an old city area with concentrated historical buildings and traditional culture. Its five major characteristics of "old street love, slow life, southern Fujian flavor, Republican style, and Taiwanese and overseas Chinese ties" are very distinct, and the cultural and tourism resources are very rich.
A number of television and film series, including "Taiwan Past," "Clouds and Water Ballad," "Strait," and "Theater," have chosen Zhangzhou Ancient City as a key filming location, filming in its historic neighborhoods. Its best description is "an ancient city from the Tang and Song dynasties, neighborhoods from the Ming and Qing dynasties, the style of the Republic of China, the charm of southern Fujian, and the brilliance of overseas Chinese and Taiwan."
