The Longbaotan Nature Reserve is a national wetland nature reserve located in Longbao Town, Yushu County, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. It is managed by the Longbao National Nature Reserve Management Station. Established in 1984 and upgraded to national status in 1986, it protects the black-necked crane.
In addition, there are 6 species of national first-class key protected animals in the reserve, including black-necked crane, black stork, bearded vulture, bald eagle, Steller's sea eagle, and snow leopard; there are 10 species of national second-class key protected animals, including the whooper swan (see swan), Alpine griffon, short-eared owl, little owl, bar-headed goose, Tibetan snowcock, vulture, peregrine falcon, Tibetan antelope, and gazelle; and there are 20 species of insects.
