Dongbi Island, located in eastern Fuqing City, is due east of Dongying Village in Longtian Town, in the southern part of Fuqing Bay . Qi Jiguang, a Ming Dynasty hero who fought against Japanese invaders, considered it a barrier to the east of the coastal area, hence the name " Dongbi . " Dongbi Island overlooks Matsu Island to the north and Haitan Island to the east, situated in a subtropical sandy coastal area.
The island boasts a magical " Fountain of Youth , " also known as the " Dead Sea " ; the " Nine Envoys Cult , " reflecting the ancient Fujian people's worship of the snake totem ; the sea sandbar, home to the beautiful legend of a " divine dragon saving a human being" ; and the " Sea River , " said to be a gateway to the realm of the gods . Particularly noteworthy is Nine Envoys Mountain on Dongbi Island, home to a mysterious cave said to stretch over ten kilometers, leading to Dongying Village and Jiaru Village in Sanshan Town.
Climbing to Dongbi Island's main peak offers panoramic views of the entire island. Looking around, you'll see vast expanses of blue water, distant mountains looming in the distance; you can hear the crashing of waves and the cry of seagulls.
