The Quanzhou Campus of Huaqiao University, one of Huaqiao University's two campuses, is located in Fengze District, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. Huaqiao University is a comprehensive university founded in 1960 under the patronage of Premier Zhou Enlai. Directly under the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, the university is a key Chinese government university and one of the first universities recognized by the Ministry of Education for its excellent undergraduate teaching performance. It serves as a major hub for overseas Chinese language education and a national center for cultural quality education for university students.
Over its more than 50-year history, leaders of the Party and the state, including Zhou Enlai, Li Xiannian, Xi Jinping, Hu Jintao, Yu Zhengsheng, Deng Yingchao, Jia Qinglin, and Li Changchun, have successively provided important guidance for the university's construction and development. Huaqiao University is located on Chenghuabei Road in Fengze District, bordered by Qingyuan Mountain to the north and the Straits Sports Center to the east.
