The original site of China Pearl and Gem City is in Xihejiawan, Weitang Town. It started in the 1970s and was built in 1984. Its original name is: Weitang Pearl Trading Market, Xiangcheng District, Suzhou City. It covers an area of more than 40 acres, with a total construction area of 15,000 square meters and a trading hall of 5,400 square meters. It has established the first freshwater pearl trading market in the country and has been successively rated as "Suzhou City's Four Star Markets", "Jiangsu Province's Top Ten Agricultural and Sideline Products Markets", "Provincial Agricultural and Sideline Products Leading Enterprise", "Top 100 Collective Trade Markets in China", "Suzhou International Tourism Store", and "Suzhou City Tourism Industry Advanced Collective and Characteristic Tourism Development Award".
