Introducing Ruiguang Pagoda

Ruiguang Pagoda, also known as " Ruiguang Temple Pagoda " or " Ruiguangyuan Pagoda ", is located inside Panmen in the southwest of Suzhou City . It is an ancient pagoda from the Song Dynasty. It is a pavilion-style building with a mixture of brick and wood. It has an octagonal plan and a total of seven levels. The tower body is made of bricks and consists of three parts: the outer wall, the corridor, and the tower core.

The remaining height of the existing tower is 42.44 meters. The height of each floor decreases successively, and the plane diameter of each floor also converges accordingly, making the outline of the exterior slightly curved. The shape is simple, elegant and soft, graceful and upright, preserving the architectural style of ancient towers in the Tang and Song dynasties.

In 1978 , national cultural relics including the Pearl Relics Pagoda, the Lotus Sutra in a mother-of-pearl-inlaid paper box, a gold-coated copper pagoda, and a copper Buddha statue were discovered in the third-floor palace of the pagoda.
