Introducing Qixingyan

The Qixingyan Scenic Area, located in Qingliu County, Fujian Province, comprises the Lion King Peak, Crescent Lake, and Songxi River sections. Qixingyan is a Danxia landform, named for its seven closely linked peaks that resemble the Big Dipper. It is unique for its well-developed landforms, compact concentration of scenic spots, and abundant forest vegetation.

Although the Qixingyan Scenic Area covers only a little over 10 square kilometers, each peak and rock offers a unique and ever-changing scene. In a single day, visitors can enjoy over 100 sights. The first five peaks are particularly majestic, precipitous, and ingenious, with cliffs rising from the ground, some reaching heights of over 300 meters.

Even Huang Jin, a national expert on Danxia landforms and professor at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, was so captivated by the beauty of Qixingyan that, despite his seventy years of age, he insisted on trekking all the way to its summit. He raved about it throughout the journey, saying, "Wuyi is the most picturesque of the southeast, and Qixingyan is the most majestic of all scenic spots." He happily inscribed the seven characters "Qixingyan Scenic Spot." Wen Tianxiang, the national hero and prime minister of the Southern Song Dynasty, ascended the mountain while passing through the clear stream of Songxi and exclaimed, "The mountain's height obscures the heavens' vision, and the small land is large enough for a prime minister."
