Introducing Taimu Mountain
Taimu Mountain is located in northeastern Fujian Province, 45 kilometers south of Fuding City, approximately at 120 degrees east longitude and 27 degrees north latitude. Standing proudly on the shores of the East China Sea, it is surrounded on three sides by the sea and backed by mountains. A National Key Scenic Area and National Geopark, it stands majestically on the shores of the East China Sea, its majestic peaks and sea nestled together in a breathtaking display of beauty, renowned for its "Grand Spectacle of Mountains and Seas."
Legend has it that the immortals of the East China Sea gather here year-round, earning it the reputation of "The Fairyland of the Sea." It overlooks Yandang Mountain in Zhejiang Province to the north and Wuyi Mountain in Fujian Province to the west, forming a tripod of three mountains. The people of Fujian call Wuyi and Taimu the "Twin Wonders," while the people of Zhejiang consider Yandang and Taimu "brothers," forming the three famous mountains of Minyue.
Taimu Mountain is composed of coarse-grained granite, dating from the late Yanshanian period, the Cretaceous period, approximately 90 to 100 million years ago. Its landforms are dominated by small-scale peak forests. It is the only region in China where such a peak forest exists within a granite hilly terrain, and the only peak forest formation within the geode granite belt in China.

Jiulixi Waterfall
The Jiulixi Waterfall Scenic Area, located southwest of the Taimu Mountain Scenic Area, covers an area of 25 square kilometers. Along the stream, visitors can admire 72 breathtakingly lifelike rock formations, including scenes of Tang Monk worshipping the west, fairies descending to earth, Bodhidharma facing the wall, lions descending the mountain, and golden tortoises playing with turtles. In late autumn and early winter, maple forests paint the mountains a vibrant red, while reeds turn a blanket of white, creating a unique and captivating scene.

Cold City Castle
Lengcheng, a mountain village nestled at the eastern foot of Mount Taimu, was built during the reigns of Emperors Xi and Jing of the Ming Dynasty. To defend against Japanese pirates, the local people built a fortress with a circumference of 1,127 meters, a height of 5.6 meters, and a thickness of 4.6 meters. It features three gates: east, south, and west, and rests against the cliff face to the north. Within the fortress lies a single east-west street, paved with cobblestones and bordering a clear stream. Houses and alleys crisscross the street, each boasting quaint architecture and a simple, rustic charm. The fortress remains well-preserved today, offering a prime location for exploring ancient sites and exploring local customs. A visit to Taimu is a must-do for most visitors.
