Introducing Yangjia Creek
Yangjia Creek, located in Yacheng Town, Xiapu County, Fujian Province, is part of the Jiuli Creek Waterfall Scenic Area, one of the five scenic areas of Taimu Mountain, a national scenic spot. The 11.5-kilometer route from Longting Waterfall to Dutou Village is known as the "Sea Country Peach Blossom Land." Legend has it that Yang Zongbao, a famous general of the Northern Song Dynasty, and Mu Guiying's children, Yang Wenguang and Yang Jinhua, once pacified the Nanman people in the Eighteenth Cave here, earning the name.
About one kilometer downstream, take a bamboo raft from Nandou, passing through the "Ten Bends and Twelve Rapids" and arriving at Dutou Village in about two hours. Along the way, you'll encounter lush green mountains and clear waters. Along the stream, you'll encounter 36 lifelike stone scenes, including Tang Monk Worshiping the West, Bodhidharma Facing the Wall, Golden Turtle Playing with Turtle, Wenguang's Broken Boat, General's Hat, and Triple Rocks. Downstream, near Dutou Village, there are two nearby sweetgum forests totaling 250 mu (approximately 1,100 maple trees).
This area boasts the northernmost ancient banyan tree cluster and the largest pure maple forest in Jiangnan. Most notable is the "King Banyan Tree," over 800 years old, with a trunk circumference of 12.6 meters, a crown diameter of 51 meters, and a height of 30 meters. Its trunk is hollow, with seven openings each large enough to accommodate several people. As the morning sun slants through the forest, the dappled shadows of the trees, shimmering in the light, cast a magical effect, creating a dreamlike experience.
Climate and best time to travel
In late autumn and early winter, the maple leaves are yellow and red, like crimson clouds. When spring comes and flowers bloom, the scenery is even better.
