Introducing Gaoqiao

Gaoqiao, built in 1334, was originally named Xingfu Bridge. It is 15.05 meters long, 4.23 meters wide, and 4.4 meters high. Perhaps due to its single span, it appears taller, hence its nickname, Gaoqiao. In ancient Chinese, "Gao" is the same as "high," and to emphasize its elegance, scholars favored the alternative name Gaoqiao. A Bagua pattern is carved on one side of the central section of Gaoqiao, and flowers are carved into the archstones. In the early years, various small trees, including wolfberry, grew on the bridge, adding to its ancient charm.
