Plum Blossom Thatched Cottage is located in Liuhe Park, Taicang. It is the studio where the contemporary centenarian master of painting, Mr. Zhu Qizhan, practiced painting when he was young. It was built before the Anti-Japanese War. After the completion of the thatched cottage, many celebrities gathered here. More than ten artists including Qi Baishi, Shen Yinmo, Huang Binhong and Pan Tianshou wrote poems and painted pictures for the "Plum Blossom Thatched Cottage".
Zhu Qizhan began painting at a young age and traveled twice to Japan to study oil painting and observe art education. At the age of 27, his oil paintings were exhibited at the inaugural Suzhou Fine Arts Competition. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhu Qizhan was employed as a curator at the Shanghai Museum of Literature and History and later as a painter at the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy. He subsequently traveled extensively abroad for sketching, creation, and solo exhibitions, becoming a renowned master of traditional Chinese painting. He authored numerous works, including "Collection of Zhu Qizhan's Paintings," "Pisiju Painting Talks," and "Selected Paintings of Zhu Qizhan."
