Introducing Yanyuan

Yanyuan, located in Xinfeng Lane in Changshu City, Jiangsu Province, is one of the famous gardens in the Jiangnan region. Originally named " Jiangyuan , " it was built by Jiang Yuanshu, the prefect of Taiwan during the Qing Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu in the late Qing Dynasty, the garden came into the hands of educator Zhang Hong (Yinnan).

Yanyuan Garden is divided into three areas. The first area is located at the entrance, where two vertical and horizontal corridors, along with the rocks behind them, create a mysterious and profound garden landscape. A small garden on the east side features a lotus pond and a rockery depicting the " Seventy-two Stone Monkeys . " From the green corridor, a small bridge leads to the Tongchuxian Pavilion on the south side of the mountain.

To the east of the rockery, staggered brick steps and lush bamboo create a " poetic realm . " From here, one enters the Poetry Appreciation Pavilion to the north, and further on, a stone boat by the water, known as the " Heavenly Return Boat . " Behind Wuzhi Hall lies the third area, home to the living quarters, also separated by a rockery.
