Introducing Zhuxi Park

Zhuxi Park, located along the ancient Grand Canal, south of the Zhuxi Temple ruins, was built in 1989 and named after the renowned Tang Dynasty monument, Zhuxi Pavilion. Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu, in his poem "Inscription on Yangzhou Chanzhi Temple," wrote: "Who knows that the Zhuxi Road, where singing and music lead, is Yangzhou?"

Chanzhi Temple, also known as Zhuxi Temple, was originally the temporary palace of Emperor Yang of Sui. Later, the palace was converted into a temple, making it a renowned temple during the Tang Dynasty. The scenery surrounding the temple is breathtaking, and most of Yangzhou's scenic spots are concentrated here. During the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Qianlong visited Zhuxi three of his six trips south of the Yangtze River, bestowing the name "Zhuxi Jingshe" upon the temple.

Zhuxi culture is profound and extensive. Over 800 poems and lyrics have been dedicated to it throughout history. Eleven emperors visited Zhuxi: Yang Guang of the Sui Dynasty, Yang Xingmi, Yang Longyan, Yang Pu, and Xu Zhigao of the Five Dynasties, Zhao Kuangyin and Zhao Gou of the Song Dynasty, Zhu Houzhao of the Ming Dynasty, and Kangxi, Qianlong, and Jiaqing of the Qing Dynasty. Great writers such as Li Bai, Du Mu, Zhang Hu, Ouyang Xiu, Su Dongpo, Wang Shizhen, Zheng Banqiao, Cao Xueqin, Kong Shangren, and Wu Jingzi all left their masterpieces in Zhuxi. Furthermore, figures like the "Eight Shantou" and the "Eight Eccentrics" all have inextricable ties to Zhuxi culture.

Zhuxi Park is a major scenic spot in Shifang, making it a great place to visit in all seasons.
