Introducing Shugang Xifeng Ecological Park

Shugang West Peak Ecological Park, located at the intersection of Yangzijiang North Road and Pingshantang Road, is a free, open-air park ideal for leisure, picnics, and recreation. Located within the Shugang Slender West Lake Scenic Area, Shugang West Peak covers a total area of 1,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres), the vast majority of which is land used by the Agricultural Science Institute. In 2003, the Yangzhou Municipal Government invested over 100 million yuan in a land swap with the Agricultural Science Institute. By the end of the year, the institute's biochemical plant, research laboratories, bathrooms, vegetable market, and 23 farms were relocated to create the Shugang West Peak Ecological Park. The first phase of the project encompasses a total construction area of 400,000 square meters.

The park's construction prioritizes greenery, with appropriate trees for the site and a balanced selection of species. A large number of native species are planted, while also introducing adaptable and ornamental species to ensure the stable growth of greenery and create a beautiful landscape. Construction was carried out without disturbing the original ecological environment, with 72 new species and over 600,000 plants added. Solar lighting is also used throughout the park to further enhance the ecological park's design concept.

The park focuses on the cultural characteristics of Yangzhou, closely integrating Yangzhou's historical culture with modern urban public open spaces. It has restored the famous historical attractions of Baguatang and Yugou Pavilion, making Shutong Xifeng Ecological Park a continuation and sublimation of the historical context of the Shugang-Slender West Lake National Key Scenic Area.
