Introducing Yancheng Ruins Park

Yancheng Ruins Park, located about 7 kilometers south of Changzhou City, is the oldest and most complete ancient ground city preserved in China from the Western Zhou Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period. It is an ancient city with three cities and three rivers, covering an area of about 0.6 square kilometers. It has a history of nearly 3,000 years and is now an important national cultural relic protection unit.

Yancheng is surrounded by three rivers, one inside and one outside. From the inside out, the inner city, the inner city river, the inner city river, the outer city, and the outer city river form a three-city, three-river structure. This architectural structure is unique among ancient city ruins in China. Most ancient cities have one city and one river, while a few have two cities and one river, or two cities and two rivers.

The Yancheng ruins are 850 meters long from east to west and 750 meters wide from north to south , which corresponds exactly to the description in Mencius that " the city is three li in area and the outer walls are seven li in area . " This further confirms that Yancheng was an ancient city built over 2,500 years ago.
