Wengding Village is located in Mengjiao Dai, Yi, and Lahu Township, approximately 40 kilometers northwest of Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province. It is one of the best-preserved pristine Wa villages in China. Wengding means "a place shrouded in clouds and mist" in the Wa language. Wengding Village is the center of the village, home to over 500 people from 97 households, all of whom are Wa. The village has a history of nearly 400 years. The Yang family was the first to establish the village, and the position of village chief is hereditary within the Yang clan. The village complex comprises a gate, residential buildings, village posts, and a sacred forest.
