Located 500 meters north of the Lianhuo Expressway intersection in Kaifeng, the China Chrysanthemum Garden is a world-leading chrysanthemum-themed ecotourism attraction focused on the culture of the Song Dynasty's suburban capital, with leisure and wellness as its foundation. Drawing on Kaifeng's rich chrysanthemum heritage, the garden boasts over 1,400 mu (approximately 1,400 acres) of chrysanthemums and is home to the Guinness World Record-breaking 7,995-square-meter "Beautiful Kaifeng" chrysanthemum carpet.
Ordinary chrysanthemums have a single color. To enhance their ornamental appeal, the China Chrysanthemum Garden and China Agricultural University have jointly launched the "Thousand Colors Tree." This "Chrysanthemum Tree" boasts multi-colored chrysanthemums on a single plant. It is meticulously cultivated over a year, grafted onto Artemisia annua, and consists of different chrysanthemum varieties. Because "Chrysanthemum Trees" require sophisticated cultivation techniques and are not commonly seen, grafting chrysanthemums enriches the variety and color of the flowers, allowing for a variety of flower shapes and significantly enhancing their quality and ornamental value.
The only Thousand Colors Chrysanthemum Tree in the country is only available for visitors to the China Chrysanthemum Garden to visit and appreciate. At the same time, the China Chrysanthemum Garden - "Thousand Colors Chrysanthemum Tree" also fully demonstrates Kaifeng's special status as a famous chrysanthemum city in China and the rich connotation of local chrysanthemum culture.
