Introducing Hou Xun's Former Residence

Located in the ancient city of Shangqiu, the former residence of Hou Xun is one of Shangqiu's most celebrated historical figures, a family of prominent officials and scholars. He served as Minister of Revenue during the reigns of the Wanli, Tianqi, and Chongzhen emperors, and was a prominent member of the Donglin Party, promoting the renowned Zuo Guangdou and Yang Lian. While he himself was not particularly famous, his son, Hou Fangyu, left a lasting legacy in history. Hou Fangyu was a renowned scholar of the late Ming Dynasty, and his love story with the Qinhuai courtesan Li Xiangjun was translated into "Peach Blossom Fan" by the renowned operatist Kong Shangren. The residence features Hou Fangyu's Zhuanghui Hall and the Jade Tower, where Li Xiangjun lived, each boasting unique architectural features.
