The Sui Emperor Mausoleum, also known as the Suiren Mausoleum, is the burial site of Suiren, the ancient inventor of the fire-making method known as drilling wood. It is located three miles southwest of the ancient city of Shangqiu. According to records such as the "Guide Prefecture Chronicle," "Han Feizi," "Zuo Zhuan," and "The Age of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors," Sui Emperor Mausoleum is located northwest of Yanbo Terrace. Experts have confirmed that Suiren was the greatest man in the world and the ancestor of the Chinese nation.
Suiren, known for his ability to cut tusks and observe celestial phenomena, established the Feng surname, the first Chinese surname. He also developed the first Chinese calendar, established Shangqiu as the center of heaven and earth, and built China's first capital there. Because of his immense contributions, he was later honored as the "Emperor of Heaven," ranking first among the "Three Sovereigns."
Shangqiu is the birthplace of fire. Fire has been obtained here many times in history. We are proud to be one of the three fire-obtaining points for the 10th National Games, along with Beijing and Nanjing.
The temperate monsoon climate makes it suitable for travel in all four seasons.
After numerous restorations and expansions, the Suihuang Mausoleum now covers over 440 mu (approximately 1,000 acres). The mausoleum is square-conical in shape, 82 meters long, 82 meters wide, and 13.9 meters high. A sacred path stretches in front, flanked by stone statues of dragons, phoenixes, and unicorns, surrounded by lush pine and cypress trees. A 3.6-meter-high platform in front of the mausoleum covers approximately 1,400 square meters and can accommodate 1,500 worshippers simultaneously. The mausoleum grounds are covered in lush green grass and vibrant flowers, making it a popular destination for outings.
