Yaoshan Scenic Area, located in Lushan County, Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, is a mountainous natural scenic spot. Dominating the Central Plains, Yaoshan boasts the majestic heights of northern China and the graceful beauty of southern China. Yaoshan, named after Liu Lei, a descendant of Emperor Yao, who built a Yao Temple to honor his ancestor, is the origin of the Liu surname. During the Warring States Period, the great thinker and social activist Mozi was born at the foot of Yaoshan Mountain, where the ruins of Mozi's hometown still exist. Yaoshan is located in the eastern section of the 800-li Funiu Mountains. Its main peak, Yuhuangding, stands at an altitude of 2,153.1 meters. Because the numerous stone peaks on the mountain resemble human figures, Yaoshan is also known as " Stone Man Mountain " or " Stone Man Stack " among local people .
