The Liuyangshan Tongtianhe Scenic Area, located in Yaoshan Town, Lushan County, Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, captures the essence of the 800-li Funiu Mountain Range. To the east, the scenic area borders the ancient Wenshu Temple, a thousand-year-old temple; to the west, it overlooks Yaoshan, a national 5A- level scenic spot; to the south, it nestles against the Drum Tower of the Bailian Training Ground; and to the north, it borders the world's largest Buddha , the Zhongyuan Giant Buddha.
Liuyang Mountain was named after the construction of the Patriarch Temple. Legend has it that the Patriarch, in order to benefit humanity and bring grace to the people of Zhongzhou, chose Tianzhu Peak, a peak that even goats couldn't climb . Building such a massive project on such a steep mountain was no easy feat, so the Patriarch sent six divine goats to carry all the temple materials up the mountain overnight. To express gratitude and commemorate the divine goats, the local people named it " Liuyang Mountain . "
The Tongtian River, with a drop of 450 meters from the summit to the base, flows like a jade belt, weaving through the cliffs and streams, appearing and disappearing year-round. This is why it's so named . Within a hundred miles of Liuyang Mountain, you'll find towering peaks, canyons, cascading waterfalls, flowing springs, mountain flowers, wild fruits, ancient temples, and caves, a truly breathtaking scenery. Only by experiencing it in person can you truly appreciate its beauty.
