The scenic area focuses on the birth and growth of Laozi, a great ancient Chinese thinker and world-renowned historical and cultural figure, as well as the cultural relics and sites left behind by his descendants through their veneration. Other notable historical sites and cultural attractions are also featured in the surrounding area.
Taiqinggong Town, east of the county seat, is said to be the birthplace of Laozi and is often considered the narrowly defined " hometown of Laozi . " This claim has been debated for thousands of years , with Luyi County gaining support and recognition from many contemporary institutions. Historically, eight emperors visited Luyi to pay homage to Laozi.
