The Jingdezhen Folk Kiln Museum is located at No. 18, Hangkong Road, Dongjiao, Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, on the south bank of the Nanhe River, 4 kilometers east of Jingdezhen. A national Class III museum, it is situated within the Hutian Ancient Kiln Site Protection Area, bounded by a wall and covering an area of 8,500 square meters. Formerly the Hutian Ancient Porcelain Site Exhibition Hall, it was renamed the Jingdezhen Folk Kiln Museum on June 23, 2003, with the approval of the Jingdezhen Municipal Editorial Committee. Directly under the Jingdezhen Municipal Culture (Cultural Relics) Bureau, it is a public welfare institution at the department level funded by the government. It is a specialized heritage museum dedicated to the collection, research, exhibition, and promotion of Jingdezhen Folk Kiln ceramics and the preservation of the Jingdezhen Folk Kiln Site.
As of 2019, the Jingdezhen Folk Kiln Museum has collected tens of thousands of ceramic artifacts and specimens from various folk kilns in Jingdezhen from the Five Dynasties to the Republic of China, and has opened three exhibition halls, displaying displays such as "A Thousand Years of Passing on the Flame", "Song and Yuan Dynasty Porcelain Workshop Sites", and "Ming Dynasty Gourd Kiln and Horseshoe Kiln Sites", which clearly reflect the major changes in the history of ceramic craftsmanship over the past 700 years and the entire process of the culmination of China's ancient porcelain making history.
The Hutian Kiln Site, under the jurisdiction of the Jingdezhen Folk Kiln Museum, was a national key cultural relic protection unit announced by the State Council in 1982. It is also one of the 100 key sites in the country identified in the "12th Five-Year Plan" and a patriotism education base.
The Minyao Museum has a humid subtropical monsoon climate. It is a pilgrimage site for ceramic history researchers, ceramic arts and crafts enthusiasts, and tourists from home and abroad, and is suitable for travel in all seasons.
