Hanshan Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, a national geological park, a Henan provincial forest park, and a Henan Intangible Cultural Heritage Site. It is located in Guxian County, Lingbao City, at the junction of Shaanxi, Shanxi, and Henan provinces. Hanshan was originally named "Hanshan." Legend has it that Emperor Zhenwu was the crown prince of King Jingle. Reluctant to succeed to the throne, he crossed the Yellow River from the Zhongtiao Mountains in Shanxi and settled here. His mother called him back to inherit the throne, and the four mountains here align, giving it the name "Hanshan." Two peaks of Hanshan face each other, known as the "Old Mother Prince Peaks," resembling an old mother looking out for her son.
Hanshan Mountain is a place with majestic mountains, beautiful valleys, peculiar rocks, gurgling waters and rich rare species. The forest coverage rate has reached 98%, and there are about 2,100 plant species, such as the rare and endangered plants Qinling fir, rhododendron, and yew (national first-class), which are treasured in large areas. The pristine ecological environment has made the negative oxygen ion content here reach 10,000 per cubic centimeter, making it a natural oxygen bar.
The landscapes such as Budaigou, Yitiantian, Tongtianti, Wurufeng, Diaofu Cliff and Hanshan Stone Tiger are majestic and breathtaking; the "Zushi Temple", "Sanhuang Cave", "Sanguan Cave", "Jade Emperor Pavilion", "Rain-praying Pond", "Good Luck Cliff" and many other historical relics make Hanshan today a rare ecological tourism scenic spot in western Henan that integrates nature and mountains and rivers, humanities and history.
