The Jingshan Mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor is located on the Huangdi Casting Cauldron Plateau in Yangping Town, 20 kilometers west of Lingbao City, Henan Province. This is the site where Emperor Xuanyuan cast the cauldron and ascended to heaven, as recorded in the "Records of the Grand Historian: Fengshan Book," the "Book of Han: Suburban Sacrifices," and the "Water Classic Notes." Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty built the Dinghu Palace here to commemorate the Yellow Emperor. In the 17th year of the Zhenyuan reign of Emperor Dezong of the Tang Dynasty, the "Inscription and Preface on the Founding of the Cauldron by Emperor Xuanyuan" was erected here. This stele is the earliest discovered in China dedicated to recording the deeds of Emperor Xuanyuan.
There are a large number of Yangshao culture sites at the site of the Yellow Emperor's Mausoleum in Jingshan. The Zhudingyuan settlement site includes more than 50 cultural sites from the Yangshao period, such as Beiyangping, Xipo, Dongchang, and Xuanyuantai, with a total area of 4.36 square kilometers. It is the fifth batch of key cultural relics protection units announced by the State Council, and has been included in the special protection project of 100 key large sites in the country during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and the National Development and Reform Commission, and has been listed as the first of the six major sites in the Chinese Civilization Origins Project.
