Dagang Mountain, a branch of Wugong Mountain, winds its way from Yichun, sloping from west to east. The Jiangxi Dagang Mountain Forestry Science and Experimental Bureau (based in Fenyi County) is a subtropical forestry research and experimental center in southern my country, and a comprehensive forestry research and experimental base primarily focused on pilot testing. It currently employs over 1,000 people. Its management policy is to prioritize forestry research, integrating it with production, integrating forestry, industry, and commerce, and gradually developing a comprehensive operation integrating the production, processing, transportation, and marketing of forest by-products.
Through scientific experiments conducted at the base, the growth and oil production of timber and economic forests, primarily fir, pine, bamboo, and oil-tea camellia, have been significantly increased in southern my country's forest regions. This has improved the utilization rate of forestry resources, suggested a scientific system for rational forest resource management, and served as a model for promoting the development of southern my country's forestry. The Bureau's forestry experimental base is located in Dagangshan (located at the foot of Jieshuishantang in Fenyi, it also houses an arboretum covering over 3,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres) that introduces and cultivates high-quality subtropical tree species, providing a scientific basis for forestry development. It is a key research base of the Bureau. The base is divided into five experimental forest farms: Nianzhu, Changbu, Shangcun, Jiangxia, and Shanxia, covering a total area of over 135,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres). It borders Yichun to the west, Anfu to the south, Songshan and Dagangshan in Fenyi to the east, and Jiangkou Reservoir to the north, forming a crescent-shaped mountain.
The Nianzhu Experimental Forest Farm covers over 16,000 mu (approximately 16,000 mu) of forest. The main peak of Dagang Mountain, Erfeng (also known as Eryangfeng because it is adjacent to Yangshan in Hongjiang Township, Yichun, which rises over 1,300 meters. Because Eryangfeng is lower than Yangshan, it is called Eryangfeng), is located here, at an elevation of 1,092.8 meters. Guanyinyan Rock is located on the eastern slope of this peak, at an elevation of over 700 meters. Between Guanyinyan Rock and Eryangfeng lies a natural forest of over 1,200 mu (approximately 1,200 mu), where rare birds and animals roam. This is the Experimental Bureau's nature reserve.
It has a subtropical monsoon climate, lush vegetation, pleasant scenery, and spectacular waterfalls, making it suitable for travel in spring and summer.
It is suitable for viewing waterfalls, appreciating mountain scenery, and leisure and entertainment.
It is recommended to play for about 2 hours.
