Longtan Waterfall, also known as Yulong Waterfall, is located in the middle reaches of Bashui River in the southern part of Laoshan, about 1 kilometer north of Shangqing Palace.
Surrounded by sheer cliffs, the Bashui River cascades down a 20-meter-high and over 10-meter-wide cliff, creating a cascading waterfall resembling a dancing jade dragon. The waterfall cascades down more than ten meters, crashing against the rock face before cascading into the pool in several streams. The clear, icy water is visible to the bottom. The words "Longtan Waterfall" are engraved on a large rock beside the pool.
There is a long boulder at the foot of Longtan Waterfall, which is pointed at the bottom and flat at the top. Visitors can sit on the platform and look up at the magnificent view of "Dragon Pond Spraying Rain". The unique landscape of mountains and waters in various shapes and forms amazes visitors and makes them linger.
