Mingxia Cave is located on the southern slopes of Kunlun Mountain in Laoshan. Climb the steps from the base of the mountain, and the bamboo-lined path stretches about a kilometer to the cave entrance. Alternatively, you can take the Taiqing Cableway for a direct ascent. Immersing yourself in the gentle breeze of Mingxia Ancient Cave will surely dispel the heat of summer and bring you peace of mind. Climbing up the path behind the cave, you'll reach the summit of Kunlun Mountain through Xuanzhen Cave, where you'll find the Tianchi Lake.
The cave was excavated during the Dading period of the Jin Dynasty. The three characters "Mingxia Cave" on the cave plaque were inscribed by the Qing Dynasty calligrapher Wang Xu. In front of the cave, there is a flat cliff like a platform. From this point, you can see the vast sea in the distance; looking down at the cliff, you can see ravines crisscrossing.
