Mashan is located about 7 kilometers west of Jimo City, Qingdao. It consists of four connected hills and is shaped like a saddle, so it is also called "Ma'anshan". The highest peak is 211 meters above sea level.

Mashan Geopark is a national nature reserve and provincial geopark. It is a multifunctional leisure and fitness park integrating science education, cultural exhibitions, and nature experiences. The area boasts a wealth of geological relics, including columnar jointed stone columns, petrified wood, contact metamorphic zones, sedimentary structures, and ancient vertebrate fossils. It is known in the geological community as a "pocket geological museum."
