The former residence of Li Genyuan is located in the "Dieyuan" in Dieshuhe Village on the banks of Daying River in the west of Tengchong City, Yunnan Province. It is the former residence of Mr. Li Genyuan, a veteran of the Kuomintang and a famous patriot in Tengchong. It was built in 1946 and completed in 1947. It is a courtyard-style building with a civil structure.
Li Genyuan (1879-1965), also known by his pen names Yinquan, Yangxi, and Xuesheng, and also by his pseudonym Gaoligongshanren, was a native of Tengchong, Yunnan. He studied in Japan in 1904, joined the Tongmenghui in 1905, and returned to China in 1909. He became the Supervisor of the Yunnan Army Military Academy and was later promoted to General Manager. He died of illness in Beijing on July 6, 1965.
Mr. Li Genyuan studied diligently throughout his life and paid attention to local documents and historical materials. He wrote "Qushi Wenlu", "Qushi Shilu", "Jingsuitang Tiba", "Xueshengnianlu" and compiled "Yongchangfu Wen Zheng".
The tropical monsoon climate combines the advantages of continental and maritime climates. Winter and spring are sunny and warm, while summer and autumn have a mix of sunny and rainy weather and are cool and pleasant. All four seasons are suitable for travel.
Li Genyuan's former residence has been newly constructed with a gate, exhibition hall, and stele gallery. The renovated and expanded "Dieyuan" boasts a rich and magnificent atmosphere, lushly planted and tranquil. The exhibition hall displays Li Genyuan's photographs from various historical periods, his writings, selected manuscripts, letters, and personal belongings. The stele gallery features dozens of stone inscriptions inscribed with calligraphy by Li Genyuan, his teachers, friends, and other prominent figures from ancient and modern times, both domestically and internationally. These inscriptions, in a variety of scripts, form a magnificent scene, resembling a whirling dragon dancing across the walls.
