Introducing Jiangzhu Ancient Town

Jiangju Ancient Town, located in the northern part of Tengchong County, is about 40 kilometers from the city center. It was an important post station on the Southern Silk Road after crossing Gaoligong Mountain. Historically, caravans and horse caravans traveling from Yifang to India, trading foreign sand and transporting jewels often stopped here.

During the Han Dynasty, the "Han Pi Wu Chi Road" (Han Pi Wu Chi Road) began to be constructed in southwestern Yunnan. This ancient road, crossing the Lancang and Nu Rivers and climbing over the Gaoligong Mountains, passed through Jiangzhu, becoming the busiest "official road" in western Yunnan. During the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, the Yongchang Ancient Silk Road crossed the Gaoligong Mountains and passed through Jiangzhu. The cobblestone streets and weathered buildings, still imposing and majestic, seem to evoke memories of past splendor.

Jiangzhu still boasts numerous ancient buildings, best known for being the filming location for the internment camp in the opening scene of the TV series "My Captain, My Regiment." A small river flows through the ancient town of Jiangzhu, where the sounds of chickens and dogs echo past. Villagers still wash vegetables and clothes at the village entrance, just as they did 76 years ago. The water flows slowly, life is unhurried, and wisps of smoke rise from cooking fires. The pork, cabbage, and vermicelli stew in the series seem like a dream.

Climate and best time to travel

The tropical monsoon climate combines the advantages of continental and maritime climates. Winter and spring are sunny and warm, while summer and autumn have a mix of sunny and rainy weather and are cool and pleasant. All four seasons are suitable for travel.
