Kaifu Temple, located at the foot of Dashu Mountain, was finally rebuilt in 2001 on the site of the temple, which was founded by Master Huiman, a Zen monk from Western Shu in the Tang Dynasty and destroyed by the Japanese invasion of China in 1938, with the care and support of relevant leaders at all levels of Anhui Province and Hefei City, and through the hard work of many people in the Buddhist community, mainly from Mingjiao Temple.
Kaifu Temple currently covers over 160 mu (approximately 160 mu) and boasts over 500 rooms, including the Grand Gate, the Gate Hall, the Bell and Drum Tower, the Circulation Office, the Heavenly King Hall, the Amitabha Hall, the Medicine Buddha Hall, the East and West Arhat Halls, the Main Hall, the Guanyin Hall, the Ksitigarbha Hall, the Reclining Buddha Hall, the Abbot's Chamber, the Buddhist College, the Yunshui Pavilion, and a pond for releasing living beings. The temple also features nearly a thousand sculptures and paintings of various Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Arhats. Kaifu Temple is both grand and majestic, and is known as the largest monastery in East China.
