The port is 40 kilometers from Malipo County, 120 kilometers from Wenshan, the prefectural capital, and 420 kilometers from Kunming, the provincial capital. Externally, it is 24 kilometers from Ha Giang, Vietnam's provincial capital, 340 kilometers from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, and 410 kilometers from Haiphong Port. It is one of the most direct and shortest land routes from Yunnan, China, to the Vietnamese capital.
