It is adjacent to the Qingshuihe Port in Ha Giang City, Ha Giang Province, Vietnam. The road from Wenshan, the prefectural capital, to Tianbao Port connects to Vietnam's National Highway 2. The port is 40 kilometers from Malipo County, 120 kilometers from Wenshan, the prefectural capital, and 420 kilometers from Kunming, the provincial capital. Externally, it is 24 kilometers from Ha Giang, Vietnam's provincial capital, 340 kilometers from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, and 410 kilometers from Haiphong Port. It is one of the most direct and shortest land routes from Yunnan, China, to the Vietnamese capital.
Malipo County, where the Tianbao Port is located, borders five counties and one city in Vietnam's Ha Giang Province: Dong Van, An Minh, Guanba, Weichuan, Huang Shupi, and Ha Giang. Along this 277-kilometer border are the Tianbao National Port, two provincial-level ports, 13 border trade points, and 108 border crossings. The Tianbao National Port is a key port development for the entire county and prefecture, and a key port development for Yunnan Province.
As a national first-class port, Tianbao Port, backed by the Greater Southwest and facing Southeast Asia, plays a vital role in the construction of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area. From the perspective of opening up to the outside world, Tianbao Port is at the forefront of the opening up of Yunnan and the Greater Southwest, serving as a bridge and link for the opening up. From the perspective of building the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, Tianbao Port is a major international channel to Southeast Asia and a key platform connecting the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area.
The subtropical monsoon climate offers mild winters and mild summers, with cool, dry weather and warm, rainy weather coexisting in the same seasons. The annual temperature difference is small, and the oceanic climate is more pronounced, with spring temperatures higher than autumn. It is suitable for travel in all four seasons.
