Fairy Lake is located in Nianbao Yuze Scenic Area. The mirror-like Fairy Lake has Nianbao Yufeng reflected in the mirror-like calm lake water. It is both mysterious and majestic. It is just opposite the lake, opening its heart to all living beings without any obstruction.
Standing on the observation deck, I gaze at the majestic peak of Nianbao Yuze, its imposing form, its body carved with the force of a knife and an axe. A gentle breeze sweeps across the pale blue surface of Fairy Lake, a gentle ripple swaying the snow-capped peaks shrouded in mist. The surrounding hillsides are covered in lush foliage, dazzling the eye. A few low white Tibetan yurts dot the opposite bank, and the faint sight of nomadic herders at work is a perfect blend of mountain and water.

The lake has cultural significance to the local Tibetan communities, who view it as a sacred site. It has become a popular destination for travelers seeking tranquility and connection with nature.
Fairy Lake is located in Banma County, Qinghai Province, on the Tibetan Plateau. It is accessible by road, but public transportation options are limited. The most convenient way to reach the lake is by taxi or private car from nearby towns or cities like Xining. Walking is not recommended due to the remote location.
The lake is open year-round, though the best time to visit is during the summer months (June to August) when the weather is mild and the surrounding nature is at its peak. Spring and autumn also offer beautiful views but with colder weather. Winter visits are less common due to freezing conditions.
The entrance fee to Fairy Lake is generally low, around 30-50 CNY. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance of the lake or through local tour operators. Online ticket purchasing may not be available in all cases due to the remote location.
It is not necessary to book tickets in advance unless visiting during peak tourist seasons. However, it is recommended to check availability if you are visiting during busy periods like summer or local festivals.
Exploring the lake and its surroundings will take around 2-4 hours. If you plan to hike the nearby trails or visit local temples, it could take a half-day or more.
Guided tours are available, typically led by local Tibetan guides. English-speaking guides may be available, but it is recommended to check in advance. Audio guides are not commonly provided.
Start by walking along the lake's edge to admire the view, then follow one of the hiking trails for a more expansive view of the area. You can also visit the nearby Tibetan temples for a cultural experience. If time allows, explore additional trails to see other parts of the plateau.
Night visits and light shows are not available at Fairy Lake, as it is a natural, tranquil destination. The best time to visit is during the day for scenic views and outdoor activities.
Fairy Lake is not as crowded as some other tourist destinations. The least crowded times are during weekdays and off-peak seasons, such as late autumn or early spring.
Basic facilities are available at the lake, including toilets and small rest areas. There are no large shops or restaurants, but you can find small local vendors offering snacks and water.
While the lake area is accessible to elderly and children, the hiking trails may be challenging for those with mobility issues. It is best to consult with local staff if you require special accommodations.
