Tongguan Yellow River Bay is located on the edge of the world-famous ancient military pass - Tongguan Ancient City, 140 kilometers away from Xi'an and only 20 kilometers away from Mount Hua. The Yellow River rushes southward and passes through the Qin-Jin Gorge. "When the river flows out of Tongguan, it becomes more ferocious because of the resistance of Taihua" (Mao Zedong's words). Outside the ancient city of Tongguan, it merges the waters of the Wei River and the Luo River coming from the west and flowing to the east. After the three rivers meet, they suddenly turn eastward here.
The area is bounded to the south by National Highway 310 in the Tongguan Ancient City district, stretching from the Jinpen Interchange in the west to the county's tidal flats downstream of the Yellow River Highway Bridge in the east. The area stretches approximately ten kilometers east-west along the river, with 20 square kilometers of developable land, water, and tidal flat oasis.
