Jiasha Spring, also known as Dugu Spring, is located at the foot of a cliff south of the road, east of the ruins of the "Turning Wheel of Revelation" temple at Lingyan Temple. The "Lingyan Chronicles" of the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty records: "In the past, there was a hermit named Dugu who built a thatched hut beside the spring, and later generations named the spring after his surname." During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Liu Liangcai, a Jinshi from Licheng, lived in seclusion in Lingyan and built a "Facing the Wall" near the spring. Disliking the word "Dugu," he changed the name to "Yinquan," implying that Buddhism originated in India. This name did not spread widely. Later, due to the presence of a cast iron block known as the "Iron Jiasha" standing next to the spring, the spring was given the name "Jiasha Spring."
This spring, with its abundant and sweet water, is the primary drinking water source for the Lingyan Scenic Area. The source lies within a sealed cave. The water flows from a crevice beneath the cliff face, forming a semicircular stone pool. It then winds and meanders, cascading through a stone dragon's mouth into a larger pond. Jin fish swim within the pool, while winding corridors surround it, and the sheer cliffs and the "Iron Kasaya" standing beside it create a unique and captivating scene. It was listed as one of the 72 famous springs during the Jin, Ming, and Qing dynasties.
Jinan has a temperate monsoon climate with obvious monsoons and distinct four seasons: dry and rainy spring, warm and rainy summer, cool and dry autumn, and cold and snowy winter.
