Yazhou Ancient City, now Yacheng Town in Sanya, Hainan, is located over 40 kilometers west of Sanya. Established as Yazhou during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, it served as the seat of prefecture, county, and county governments since the Song Dynasty. Today, Yacheng, with its rich history and numerous historical sites, has become a popular tourist destination in Hainan.
After Hainan was established as a province and a special economic zone, the gates of Yazhou City were renovated and now appear majestic, attracting a constant stream of tourists from both China and abroad. Yacheng also boasts the renowned scenic spots of Big and Small Caves. Shaped like a giant turtle, it rests on the sea, boasting breathtaking peaks, overlapping forests, and a myriad of unusually shaped rocks. Green banyan trees cast their shade, red beans resemble stars, and springs are as clear as honey.
