Hainan Diaoluoshan National Forest Park is located in southeastern Hainan Island, at the junction of Lingshui, Qiongzhong, Baoting, and Wanning counties (cities), covering a total area of 37,900 hectares. The forest vegetation consists of tropical secondary forests, monsoon forests, and evergreen broad-leaved forests, with a forest coverage rate of 96.26%. With annual rainfall exceeding 2,450 mm, the park is known as the "Water Town of Southern Hainan" and a popular summer escape. The park boasts numerous natural landscapes, including giant ancient trees, stunning lakes and mountains, and over a hundred waterfalls. The most famous of these is the Fengguoshu Waterfalls, with a drop of 350 meters, known as the "First Waterfall in Hainan." Other attractions within the scenic area include Xiaomei Lake, the Miao King's Tomb, and Dali Waterfall.
The maritime tropical monsoon climate zone has an average annual temperature of 20.8°C, an average temperature of 23.9°C in the hottest month, and rainfall of 1870-2760 mm.
More than 80% of the rainfall is concentrated in the rainy season from May to October each year; while the dry season is from November to April of the following year.
Xiaomei Reservoir
Xiaomei Reservoir is the upper reaches of Lingshui River, located in Diaoluo Mountain. It was planned for construction in 1959, but construction did not begin until January 1966. It is a homogeneous earth dam with a dam top length of 280 meters.
Fengguoshan Waterfall
To the northwest of the Diaoluo Mountain area, at the edge of the entire region, lies Fengguo Mountain, arguably Hainan's largest waterfall complex. Comprising 1.5 kilometers of 10 cascades, the largest, Fengguo Falls, has a drop of over 150 meters and a width of 30 meters, reaching 60 meters in the rainy season. Comprising the Fairy Tears Falls, Ice Heart Falls, Thoughts of Homecoming Falls, and Rainbow Falls, it is known as "Hainan's No. 1 Waterfall," spanning a thousand-foot canyon and traversing a hundred-meter mountain stream.

A recommended route would be to start with the main entrance, follow the forest trails, and hike up to the summit for breathtaking views. Along the way, make stops to admire the flora and fauna, then descend through the valley to explore the streams.
Night visits or light shows are not available in the park. The park is best visited during daylight hours to fully appreciate its natural beauty and the wildlife.
The park can get crowded during public holidays and weekends. To avoid crowds, it's best to visit on weekdays, especially in the morning or late afternoon.
The park has basic facilities such as toilets, rest areas, and water stations. There are no large restaurants or shops inside, but some small local stalls may offer snacks and refreshments at the entrance.
While some areas of the park have paved paths, the terrain can be quite rugged in certain sections, making it less accessible for elderly or disabled visitors. However, children and families can enjoy shorter trails and the park’s natural beauty.

Nearby attractions include the Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park and the Nanshan Temple. Both are easily accessible from Diaoluo Mountain and can be visited in the same day.
There are a few souvenir shops at the park entrance selling local crafts, such as handwoven baskets, Hainan coconut products, and traditional Hainanese handicrafts.
The best way to continue your trip is by taxi or private car. If you are using public transportation, buses are available, but they are slower compared to a private taxi.
