Introducing Kuixing Tower

Kuixing Pagoda is one of Hainan Province's best-preserved ancient pagodas, standing tall in the quaint Zhonghe Town of Danzhou. It's called "Kuixing Pagoda" because of the statue of Kuixing within. While there's no exact record of the pagoda's construction date, analysis of the existing structure and other physical evidence suggests it dates back to the mid-Liao Dynasty. The pagoda boasts a unique design, refined technique, and is remarkably well-preserved.

This small stone pagoda, with an irregular octagonal plan and seven exterior stories, stands on a square stone base. The interior is hollow, with short eaves on each floor. The archway on the first floor is too narrow to enter. The roof is built with bricks of varying sizes stacked in a square and octagonal pattern, gradually tapering inwards to create a slightly flattened spire. The structure is quite intricate, and some caisson paintings remain, though the colors and patterns are blurred. Two lines of inscription are engraved on the back wall of the first floor: "Rebuilt by Danzhou Camp naval and land forces on an auspicious day in the second month of the Yiwei year of the Guangxu reign (1895)."
