Introducing Madam Xian Memorial Hall

The Lady Xian Memorial Hall is located in Xinpo Town, Haikou City (formerly Qiongshan City). Lady Xian, a native of Gaozhou, Guangdong Province, was the wife of Feng Bao, the prefect of Gaozhou during the Southern Dynasties. She led troops to quell the rebellion of the Li ethnic group in Hainan and later petitioned the imperial court to establish Yazhou, restoring direct ties between Hainan and the Central Plains. Among other patriotic contributions, she dedicated her life to the people. To commemorate her contributions to maintaining national unity and solidarity between the Li and Han ethnic groups, descendants built a Lady Xian Temple in Xinpo Town, Qiongshan City. Currently, there are over 2,000 temples dedicated to Lady Xian around the world, with over 300 in Gaozhou alone.

The Lady Xian Memorial Hall in Haikou, covering 283 square meters, boasts a graceful and imposing presence. Its double-eaved roof, covered in golden glazed tiles, creates a magnificent spectacle. Large plaques inscribed with the words "Heroine" and others on the main entrance are particularly eye-catching. In the main hall, a life-size painting depicts Lady Xian, dressed in a robe and radiant in spirit. The annual Junpo Festival, a temple fair, is held here, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
