Heshui Reservoir, located in Futian Town, within the Xinyuan River system of Qionghai City, was built in October 1965. Due to its proximity to the sea, the salty sea breezes corrode metal structures, making them susceptible to damage. Several early and severe typhoons damaged the reservoir. After a renovation in 1976 with mortar-stone slope protection, it has continued to operate safely to this day. The reservoir is surrounded by flat terrain and is home to a variety of residential buildings. The water quality is excellent, and fish and shrimp are plentiful and delicious, with bighead carp, catfish, and carp being common. Fishing is a common sight here, as are many locals. Cycling or jogging along the reservoir's perimeter offers a unique experience.
