Shangqing Ancient Trail is located in Shangzao Village, Pingshui Town, Keqiao District, Shaoxing City. It is a very classic trail in Shaoxing's hiking community. Its name seems to come from the place names at its beginning and end, one is Shangzao Village and the other is Qingtan Village.
In ancient times, the only official road from Shengzhou to Shaoxing was equivalent to the current national highway. Now, with the opening of the Pingwang Line, few people use it. Local people also call it the Kuaiji Ancient Road. The waterway from the Shangzao Ancient Wharf along the Ruoye River to Shaoxing has been in decline for a long time and no trace of it can be found. The mountain road from the Shangzao Ancient Wharf in Wangtan Town to Shengzhou has been preserved to this day because it is rarely visited and is paved with bluestone slabs.
