Lu Xun's former residence is located at 235 Luxun Middle Road, Yuecheng District, Shaoxing City. In early 2003, to restore the traditional appearance of Lu Xun's hometown, the exhibition hall, which was out of scale with the surroundings, was demolished and restored as Zhoujiaxintaimen. The newly built memorial hall is located on the east side of Lu Xun's hometown, adjacent to Lu Xun's ancestral home to the east, Zhoujiaxintaimen to the west, Zhujiataimen to the north, Dongchangfangkou to the south, and across the river from Shoujiataimen.
Lu Xun's hometown is where Lu Xun and his ancestors lived. It boasts the Xianheng Hotel, mentioned in Lu Xun's novel "Kong Yiji," as well as the familiar Baicao Garden and Sanwei Study. Sanwei Study remains furnished as it was, and the character "早" (early morning) carved on Lu Xun's desk can still be vaguely seen.
The "Lu Xun Life and Deeds Exhibition Hall" at the Luxun Memorial Hall is a modern exhibition hall rich in Shaoxing characteristics and contemporary features. Its simple and peaceful design, unpretentious and unadorned, fully embodies the humanistic connotations of Lu Xun's spirit. The interior features sculptures and stainless steel decorative walls, using modern display methods to enhance the cultural connotations and artistic appeal of the memorial building.
