Introducing Shaoxing East Lake Scenic Area

East Lake is about six kilometers east of the ancient city of Shaoxing. It is a famous garden with its ingenious combination of cliffs, caves, stone bridges and lake surface. It is one of the three famous lakes in Zhejiang Province.

East Lake, once a site for ancient stone quarrying, is a small, narrow lake flanked by mountain peaks, resembling a mirrored surface. If you're looking for a black-sailed boat ride, it's best to experience it on East Lake. Passing through Taogong Cave, you'll marvel at the vertical, flat rock walls that resemble screens. Shout in the cave and you'll hear your own voice echo.

As you approach the pier, you might hear a charming village opera. If you have enough time, you can skip the round-trip boat ride and choose to walk part of the way. The walking path is split on either side of East Lake. One side follows the mountain wall, offering cooler views and panoramic views of the lake. The other side runs along the courtyard wall, offering unobstructed views but a shorter distance.
