Huangshizhai, over 1,200 meters above sea level and surrounded by knife-cut cliffs, offers the best and largest viewing platform overlooking the sandstone peaks and peaks, and is also a prime spot for watching the sunrise. Because the entire mountain resembles a fierce lion, it's also known as Huangshizhai. Key attractions include the Liuqi Pavilion, Zhaixing Terrace, the Mist Sea Golden Turtle, and the Heavenly Book Treasure Box. Legend has it that Zhang Liang, the Han Dynasty's Marquis Liu, disillusioned with the world, resigned from his official position and followed Chisongzi, secluded himself and traveled through Zhangjiajie. Besieged by soldiers, he was rescued by his master, Huangshigong, hence the name Huangshizhai. Huangshizhai is home to Zhangjiajie's most stunning scenery and is also the largest aerial viewing platform in the region.
